  • Man, I remember singing this in high school (composed by Holst, I believe), one of my favorite carols of all time. Sounded great with a full choir, or even just a solo quartet. These words... they're just beautiful. Thanks, Christina!

Thank you, Seraph, for your elaboration on this piece, it helps Western readers such as myself who only seem to read safe Eurocentric poetry understand pieces such as this one much better.

  • Stunning, Stellar Work

I'm not sure why, but this is my all-time favorite poem. It actually inspired me to write a long piece, which wasn't my wont. But it's smooth and filled with such beautiful, round language, it evokes the post-Victorian period so well. I see hazy London streets and cobblestones and horses and steam locomotives and hanging marbled sides of beef in Butcher's Row so clearly every time I read this.

Wow, this piece was wonderful! This should be every Poet's favorite poem, ever. The specific citations were a great touch, and I personally felt connected to Whitman as I read this. It would've been wonderful if he had written a companion piece about writer's block, though, but this was a great read nonetheless.
