  • on A Supermarket In California by Allen Ginsberg, on November 16, 2005
I find it fascinating how, no matter the overt subject matter, Ginsberg always includes a covert 'story' of sorts.

  • on Phenomenal Woman by Dr. Maya Angelou, on May 18, 2004
Miss Maya's poetry is awe inspiring. . . but tis more inspiring to have heard it read by her own lips. Truly, there is much more to this lady, and her art, than what meets the eye. On this poem, specifically, I love the form, I love the rhythm, I love the theme, I love the poem, I love the author. . . love, love love love love.

    Amazing.

  • on To A Primrose by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, on May 18, 2004
I'm not fond of rhyme, but it's a good example of a solit rhyme scheme. I lover personification, and within this poem, it's abounding. I also enjoyed the strenght of the vocabulary chosen. While not among my favorite poems, tis definantly not in my 'hate' list.

  • on To My Mother by Edgar Allan Poe, on May 18, 2004
Everybody else finds this poem to be 'uplifting.' Perhaps I've missed something. . . while it is a wonderful tribute. . . and possibly hinting to an eulogy. . . I still find it rather glib, as most of Poe's writings. Considering his life, however, I do believe he is entitled to an eternity of depressing poetry.
