- Symphonic Storm at allpoetry
All is silent. The wind is gone. / The world has paused as the charged air / Waits with baited breath for the symphony to begin -- / For the symbol to crash, / And the drum to begin its roll, / Crescending to a bomb

on Alone by Edgar Allan Poe, on September 16, 2005This is an amazing write. When you think about his life, and just how much it sucked, this poem really starts to make sense. Completely and utterly depressing, yet he words it so beautifully, that one can't help but be drawn to it. It's for good reason that he's my favorite poet.

on A Boat beneath a Sunny Sky by Lewis Carroll, on September 12, 2005Is it any wonder that Lewis Carroll is one of my favorite poets? Absolutely beautiful! I love the rhyme scheme, I don't think I've heard one like it before... so unique! I love the part that says:
"Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes."
It just has such a beautiful aura about it, that draws you in, calms you, and at the same time, sends a little chill up your spine, of something so wonderful yet undefinable. -
on To -- by Edgar Allan Poe, on August 10, 2005that is such a beautiful poem! i love poe's writings but i had never read this poem before! i wonder how i coulda missed it...
and i agree with scorpi... i like the last verse the best. its so beautiful.

"Until, when stars begin
To gleam by two and three,
He sees the ships come in
That no one else can see –
The ships that wait no tide,
The ships that take no steam,
But to their moorings glide
As quiet as a dream;"
i dont know why, it just struck a chord with me. something ghostly and haunting, but has such a spirit of reminiscing to it that it gives me chills and makes me smile at the same time.
