on Don't You See? by Katharine Lee Bates, on May 20, 2004While I was reading this, I kept imagining all of the creatures as cartoons, and that made me chuckle this morning. I agree with Open Eyes, that this is still a great poem today, and the humor is not entirely lost. I absolutely loved the play on words.

on A Few Rules for Beginners by Katherine Mansfield, on May 15, 2004I could see somebody having this poem displayed on their walls, with a painting of a child. These are great lessons for "beginners." I loved the last line though, just a really sweet poem.

on A Day in Bed by Katherine Mansfield, on May 15, 2004I agree with the comment that Nam made, as far as this sounding like what a child would write. I read the poem aloud, and it has a very sing-songy quality to it, much like the riddles that children recite.
This was fantastic though, brought to mind those days when I was young and home sick from school. -
on 2 little whos by e e cummings, on May 15, 2004I vote for just weird on this one. I am not going to even attempt to understand what this is about. I've never been a big fan of Cummings, but most of the time I respect him for what he tried to do, that he just put all of his writing out there. However, this really made no sense to me, even after I read it several times.
