  • re: Suicide

I've never found any scripture which expressly forbids taking one's own life. Life is a gift from God and shouldn't be thrown away lightly, but what about degree? Certainly there is heroic suicide, coward's suicide, and other varieties: heartbroken, accidental, merciful, psychotic, etc. Do we really think God has a one-size-fits-all policy?

If I read my bible correctly, we are saved by faith, not of works. Faith in God should trump our lack of faith in ourselves. The act of trusting God should trump the act of bringing our life to a close prematurely.

    Great thirst inducing haiku.

Hear hear! I remember fondly many gallons of the wonderful rice wine when visiting Japan back in the 80's. Rode the New Tokaido Line's bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. Wonderful trip. Especially enjoyed Sanjusangendo and Kiyomizudera.
