I drag on the ends / to find yellowy ruins, / my fleshy cap searing / and knowing / I can’t touch them. / The same patterns / of fraudulent ash / swirl and choke through / rotted floorboards, / h - Drive at allpoetry
I turned back time / to hold on a little; / your car chasing / too fast to grip- / peoples faces molding / into the sand, / my hair just rattled / and caught my lips. / The sunlight cracked;

on Self-pity by D H Lawrence, on June 3, 2006
Favourite
This too is my favourite by D.H.Lawrence, there's just so much meaning that inspires the soul with hope, the fact that if living creatures can move on without pity, why can't we?

on The Kiss by Anne Sexton, on June 3, 2006I like this piece- it's a portrayal of how Sexton could cover a range of topics, images, emotions whilst evoking a bold manner, typically toward the end proving to be most effective. It seems Sexton has also inspired the band 'My Ruin' with their song 'My beautiful flower', starting with the same opening line. Excellent

on The Explosion by Philip Larkin, on June 3, 2006
10/10
Oh Larkin... another piece that depicts the outcry of destruction, yet hinting at that small slither of hope. It's the fact that we as human beings go on despite all things, and the fact that the cycle is neverending that intrigues me the most. Larkin almost seems to contradict his previous beliefs on the afterlife here, yet still manages to leave the reader with a remaining questioning inside their mind. I love the relation of the unbroken egg to new life. Pure brilliance.

Proves to be an interesting read, anyway.
