on When I Suspected by Spike Milligan, on May 26, 2003This short poem expresses effectively how the poet relates to the idea of time. Time can eventually lead to alterations, interruptions, fractures. Whatever be the state or condition, it is liable to change. And happiness does not escape this reality.
Such a thought can sometimes cross anybody's mind, I would imagine. And this short poem might reflect either a moment of melancholy caused by the realization of fleeting time, or a constant haunting thought that prevents the poet from living the instant. -
on A Clear Midnight by Walt Whitman, on May 20, 2003Very beautiful poem.

This concept echoes a concept of Dante, which Coleridge inserts in its poem from the Divine Comedy, in which the 'mist' is the false reasoning ('falso immaginar') which makes someone obtuse ('grosso'). If this false reasoning were removed ('scosso'), the sight of things would be different.
