  • So beautiful. That strikes exactly the right note, the increase in intimacy indicated by the switch from the formal to the familiar address.

    Maybe more people should read this kind of thing and take some of it to heart. Edgar Guest is old fashioned in his style but no one can say this isn't true.

    Unlucky in love, poor Laetitia. It's quite modern in theme and tone. "Men were deceivers ever" as some other poet said.

    Too bad we don't have much of Laetitia Pilkington's work.
