This is my very favorite poem of all time! I cannot even began to say what it means to me. There is so much of me wrapped into these words that he wrote so long ago. It reminds me of my little sister that died at an early age. I know this poem was written for Rupert's great lover, but I relate it to the lose of my sister that I will never forget. You can still feel the love that he had for her flowing through each word.

He was a marvelous writer, and yes so young, but with such marvelous work -and legacy given. He can never be duplicated, but he can inspire us to excel in our writing.

"I believe we as poets leave behind pieces of ourselves in our work." Rupert Brooke left behind more than pieces of himself, but great big chucks of his spirit with us!

The only thing I can say is, "OH, MY GOD!" Hhad written this with such air, and grace! The mystery behind the girl gave be goosebumps!

    Beautiful

I don't know how a suicide note could be beautiful, but this might be the first you here of someone saying one is. It is remarkable that she was able to write this in her state of mind...leaving me to think of my own painful writing experiences. How often have I sat down and wrote the painful words of an unheeded cry? I can't even count them. Beautiful beyond words!

    Beautiful

I have always loved this poem. My father found this anthology of poetry in the dumpster in the back of a thrift store, and this poem I believe was on the first page. This was my first introduction to old poetry and that was over ten years ago when I was a teen. I love this poem so much!
