on A Sake Barrel by Ihara Saikaku, on August 10, 2005It's amazing how something so bare can be so elegant. Beautiful poem, really calls to mind festivities past, or something like that... nostalgia, how something can exist (the sake barrel) in times of joy and loneliness.

on A Life by Sylvia Plath, on June 25, 2005Oh my... should I try to understand this? If I had to guess, the beautifully lain metaphors in this poem point to a deterioration... a seemingly recurrent theme in Plath's poetry. She really was a genius.
I enjoyed this piece, it put me in mind of a gray trailer of some kind. Beautiful wordsmithing.
