  • on We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar, on September 7, 2007

    Wonderful Write

As I read this poem I am reminded how we all wear a mask at some time in our lives. There are times it is very hard to be vulerable in life and love. But we can not hide forever. Think of all we would miss. An excellent poem with wonderful rhyme scheme. A poem truly written from his heart. This poem is timelewss and could be written today too. Although I think it had a powerful meaniung when it was written long ago. Sandy

    Wonderful Read

This was a wonderful poem. Very heartfelt and being an older woman, not quite as old as this one, he potrayed, I can so relate as I think back to my own mom losing her outer beauty but remaing a beautiful person on the inside where it matters most. Awesome poem and a pleasure yto read. Sandy

  • on Stella Maris by Arthur Symons, on June 11, 2006

    Superb Poem

Well I read a few of Arthur Symons poems. I get the sense he enjoyed writing about the fairer sex. And he wrote with an open mind, how they affected him. He had a passion for them and was not afraid to write about it. Whether it be of the young lover that still makes him smile as he remembers long ago in Stella Maris. Or the old women who he sees wandering and missing her youth in The Old Women. He shows his tender side in You Remain. His sexual undertones in some of his writing is very captivating. I must admit, it has been a pleasure to read his work. The depth of his imagery is so refreshing.I wrote what I felt after reading his works. Personally, It took me to a more sensual side. Longing and missing someone dear. So this is what I wrote. Hope it is ok for the contest. Sandy
