on Loss And Gain by Nora Perry, on December 14, 2005This is such a beautifully sad piece!
I don't know with what intent it was written, but to me it expressed how empty such words as "They're in a better place" sound when you experience true loss for yourself. Not just empty, but callous and ignorant even.
I had never heard of this author--I have been exploring new authors lately--and I will definitely have to check out some more of her poetry.
The image of the 4th staza tugged on my heart strings.
I can never imagine anything more painful than the loss of a child but two?
The empathetic heart break is killing me! -
on To __________ by Joseph Seamon Cotter Sr, on December 14, 2005I can definitely relate to this poem. I was just on the verge of writing, "Wow, you have a great classical style--I hope you write more soon" when I realized that I was on oldpoetry.com and not allpoetry.com.
*sigh*
Ah well, though precious few people write like this anymore, it is a fair sacrifice for the brilliant works of modern poetry.
This poem sounds so familiar, but I have never heard the name of the author before. Of course, that is plain ignorance on my part, but I'm merely a child, I can't be expected to know everything.
It was sweet and short and left so much to wonder.
A beautiful piece--the break up song of the 19th century. -
on Love by Benjamin Cutler Clark, on December 14, 2005What a lovely and romantic thought. It sounded so lovely when read aloud...almost like wind chimes. I have never heard of this poet before--yes, I know, I am horribly ignorant but atleast I can admit it. I loved the third stanza
Though I am usually more fond of poetry with lots of hidden meanings and dark little twists, this was lovely for me to read. It was like listening to music.

Meanwhile, here I sit, typing about nothing when there is poetry to discuss!
How rude of me!
However, I must finish this at a later date, duty calls.
Ahoy!
