  • Whatever Happened to Candy (Part 2) at storywrite
“So, how old are ya, anyway?” Candy jumped as she started out of the stock room, now dressed in a uniform which consisted only of a short black skirt and a white blouse.
  • Whatever Happened to Candy? (Part 1) at storywrite
It was a day quite a few years ago, much like today. The kind of day that smolders and bakes, makes the skin feel like it could slide and melt right off the bones. Not much els

Sometimes, it is that which we never truly have that leaves
    us always wanting more...eternally longing.

I wish my diary entries were quite so poetic, though.

  • This is not one of my favorite Walt Whitman pieces, i must
admit. I did like the message/theme that was being presented,
yet i felt as though the phrasing and redundancy in this one
    fell a little flat.

i have to admit that this one left me wondering if there was
more of a story behind the piece itself...i am very curious
as to the inspiration for the piece. That is actually one
of the things i most enjoyed about the write, i suppose. It
leaves me with something to wonder about once i leave the
page...and it is not instantly forgotten.

  • This is a very strong piece of writing by the author to his brother. It speaks in the present tense, then takes the
reader on a journey into the past to speak of their shared
mother...and the memory of her and what she sought for her
children. Newman is focused both on topic and in content
and the message is one of comradery, kinship and loyalty...
    to family...and to their God.
