  • The road as a metaphor for humanity I suppose. A road is where people meet, rather, can be observed, where affinities can be seen and appreciated. Outside we can be open, honest, be brothers.

A fraternity of poets, of men, of seers, brave enough to take to the road, to leave old ways behind, to forge new values, discover real worth.

    Or something like that.

  • Being orphaned while in the same house as my parents, I was adopted by television, so... I'm reminded of Fonzie of Happy Days, how he couldn't say, "I'm sorry" He hemmed and hawed whenever that response was required. That is the guy that Hemingway speaks of...truth didn't come easy, like a baby trying to walk I suppose...and when he did finally manage to spit it out, there wasn't anything pretty about it.

  • It's always interesting how a sound or an image will remind us of a half-forgotten memory. It does seem to be the cries that reminds the speaker--melancholy memories I assume.

  • Apparently I'm Mr. Nobody!

What is the line from "The Simpson's" that Homer taught Bart for when he did something wrong, "It was like that when I got here."

I'll have to remember Mr. Nobody, he'll come in handy.
