on The Valley Of Dry Bones by Ambrose Bierce, on March 2, 2005Ok. So this is what i think the poem is about. Its either going for its meaning literally however certain clues left in the text make me believe that this belief is wrong. I believe this poem is talking about how tough and unpleasant the obstacles and problems life throws at us and that we really have no choice but to "suck" it up. I must adnmit that as being one who doesn't generally feel squirmish, this made my stomach churn. I think the imagery isnt creating a picture perfect image inside my head but the imagery has been throgh the selection of recognisable objects that we wouldn't dream of touching let alone eating driving the point the poem develops so much clearer than had it been done in any other way. A very well done poem.

on Kubla Khan: Or, A Vision In A Dream. A Fragment by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, on January 31, 2005i don't think it did come from an opoium induced stae. its to perfect. i really like the contrasts i.e.
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
i believe this to be the pinnacle of coleridges writng, even dwarfing the rime of the ancient mariner
