Really BAD Poetry

    Can you think of any OLD poets which may have what is considered BAD poetry?
    If so then please leave their name and even a link to the 'BAD' poem, if posted on Oldpoetry.
    This is about the poetry only not the Poet themselves.

    Well, "bad" is of course a subjective term but here goes:

    Ode To The Johns Hopkins University by Sidney Lanier

    The title alone is worth a smirk. And as you said, this isn't about the poet, but this one poem. There's something very unromantic, stilted and unspectacular about an ode to a university, no matter how beautiful the ivy might be.

    Beyond that, 10 of the last 19 lines start with "bring."

    It's one of those poems Monty Python might have found worthy of parody.

    And no, I never did finish it.
