  • Most of us, poetry lovers or others, have read Allama Muhammed Iqbal at least some of him somewhere. To many he remained hard-to-understand philosopher poet. Iqbal has written pure poetry too which is equally remarkable. I like Dr Iqbal, one my favourite poets. I find his poetry the most interesting, most intriguing and most touching. It leaves an indelible mark on reader's mind. I vitalize his style also his gift for conciseness and frugality.
  • This great essay by American poet and critic Eli Siegel (1902-1978) describes how the study of poetry meets the need in every person to feel that the conflicting qualities in us, which are also in reality itself, can make sense. This is because poetry, in its technique and emotion, composes these opposites beautifully, and in a way that makes for aesthetic emotion in us.
  • The poetry of Edgar Lee Masters, specifically that of The Spoon River Anthology (1915), can be deemed a poetry of community. However, to leave the analysis of his work at this statement only superficially examines Masters inquiries into the mechanics and methods of rural and small town life.
