on The Road to Gundagai by A B 'Banjo' Paterson, on March 4It has been awhile since I have read this piece from AB...he really had a way with the words that flowed gold from his pen. Always a pleasure to read.

on The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes, on March 4So much has already been said about this piece...it was a set piece for my daughter to review in her English class and that still holds terror for me ..... but most definitely a worthy piece for students to review.

on The Geebung Polo Club by A B 'Banjo' Paterson, on February 27Such great imagery that trips the imagination into gear. I can still recall the first time I read this poem in Primary School and each time I read it the picture plays out in my mind. Even more surprised when I discovered there is a suburb of Brisbane called Geebung but I never did see the Polo Club ... reflections of my childhood and the poetry which influenced my mind. Always a pleasure to read.

on My Country by Dorothea Mackellar, on February 22We all had to learn this one along with Holy Dan in school. The imprint is there in our minds but the impact on our hearts is what makes this one of if not the most loved poem for Australians. Two lines from the poem sum it up ......
All you who have not loved her,
You will not understand -
