I don't think that I have ever read a poem that so beautiful worded the way I have felt since my brother's death. This is such a wonderfully sad write. I have always been the one in the back seat to my brother. His light always shone brighter than mine, I guess. When he died last year, it almost killed me, maybe because I wanted to go before him. But alas, Death loved him best.

  • on Ad Finem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox, on July 11, 2004
I had this poem posted on my home page. I didn't know that this poem was even on this site. I am glad that I found it. I, also have that book "Best Loved Poems of the American People". A few pages are ripped out of mine, and there were a few really good poems that I don't have anymore. One of them starts off "A hundred years from now dear heart". I don't know who wrote it. I think the page # is in the twenties, but I am not sure about that. If you know who the poet is, and the name of the poem, I would be so grateful if you could message me back. Ella Wheeler Wilcox is definitely one of my favorite poets of all time, and has been since I first read that book when I was 12 years old. I would appreciate it immensely for that information. Thanks.

Oh, Ella Wheeler Wilcox is one of my favorite poets. She was truly blessed with an amazing talent, one that I can only dream about. As a matter of fact, I have one of her poems on my author's page, "AD FINEM". This poem is filled with so much hope and inspiration. This is the first time that I have read this piece by her. Thank you for sharing this with us. Beautiful work.
