on The Outcast's Farewell by Robert Fuller Murray, on March 4, 2005This one made me sad... Nice new take on suicide, but I dunno, I don't see suicide as an element worth writing about, on it's own. Probably just my prejudiced, anti-suicidal nature. But really, aren't life's trials what makes it worth living?

on Just Thinking Of You by James Douglas Morrison, on March 4, 2005Jim Morrison was the man who got me into poetry... Certainly the man who started me writing anyway. I hadn't come across this one yet, it's quite bizarre because it isn't bizarre at all, which doesn't seem at all like him! Nice to know he was happy once, though. Hope he still is, somewhere.

on Howl by Allen Ginsberg, on March 4, 2005I'd be lying if I said I totally understood this, but I think one of the traits of good poetry (and Beat poetry especially) is that everytime you read it you pick up on something different... I'd also be lying if I said it didn't affect me. I think in this day and age the opposite is the problem though, no one WILL ruin their minds by being completely mad, and neither will they expand them by being even slightly unorthodox. Which in so many ways is worse. We live in a box!
