Book: PUNCH

Cicely Fox Smith wrote for a number of publications in her early years but she was a regular contributor to the pages of Punch throughout her career.
Initially her offerings were under the nom-de-plume CFS to hide her femininity from the public since it was thought that they would not accept poems from a woman on the themes she chose to write about. However her reputation was soon established and she proudly used her given name and title Miss Cicely Fox Smith for most of her contributions.
