Homer

I lived from -900--850.

I influenced poets William Cullen Bryant, Giosue Carducci, James Joyce, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Charles I de Valois, Duke of Orleans.

Birth and death dates are approximate.

The fact is that no one has any solid theory on what the answer to this question might be! There are, however, many historians, literary figures, and others who have stated beliefs and theories as to who Homer really was and where he lived.

We will only relate to you two stories that try to pinpoint the identity of this clandestine poet.

There is one school of thought, perhaps originally stated by one person and now believed by a small group of people, that the true identity of Homer lies within Nausicca, whom lives with her father King Alcinous and mother Queen Arete on the island of Scheria!

Another, and perhaps humoring hypothesis is that of a British scholar who suggested that if Homers name were spelled backwards, in Hebrew, it would be just another form of Solomon; thus the scholar attributed the poems to the Hebrew King!
