Little, if anything, is known of Revel's life, or if he even existed. There is also debate over the date of the narrative, "The Poor Unhappy Transported Felon..." which is the only work attributed to him. Whether, as that poem suggests, that it is a seventeenth century account, or one written later in the eighteenth century to capitalize on the popularity of sensational narratives and tales like Daniel DeFoe's, Moll Flanders, et al. is unknown.
