Mary Webb

I lived from 1881-1927. I was from Great Britain, and am in the English category.

Mary was born in Leighton, Shropshire in 1881. Her Father was a schoolmaster, she began writing at the age of 10, writing fairy stories, later educated in Southport. She married Henry Webb in 1921.
Various English and American publications carried her work. She moved to London in 1921 as a book reviewer.
Mary is well known for her novels,centered on the borders between Wales and England. She was awarded the Femina Vie Heurese Prize for her novel 'Precious Bane' in 1925 Mary Webb died in 1927.
