Born in New York in 1873 Guy Wetmore Carry; was known both as a poet and a humorist. This reputation he acheived by his cynical, light verse.
His sense of humour is evident throught his parodies of well known nursery rhymes.
It is believed his died due to injuries he received whilst trying to rescue his books from a fire in his home. Living for one month, he succumbed to his injuries and died in 1904.
