I lived from 1581-1627. I was from Scotland, and am in the European category.
Henry Adamson was a Scottish poet who was born in1581. He was the son of James Adamson, who was the Dean of the guild in Perth. Henry was educated for a career in the church, but became a schoolmaster in his home city instead. He was well versed in the classics and wrote Latin poetry. He is best remembered for his poem Mirthful Musings for the death of Mr Gall. The poem, which he wrote in 1620, is a valuable document because it is a versified history of his native town of Perth in the seventeenth century. It is full of quaint allegorical allusions. In 1638, his friend William Drummond encouraged him to publish the poem. In the poem he is credited with being the first to use the word curling. The poem records the playing of Golf on the South Inch and is also noteworthy for mentioning rosicrucianism, freemasonry and second sight.
Henry died the following year in 1639.

My poetry
- To bring to nought a Nimrod's enterprise;
Up to Duusinane's top then did we climb,154 lines - as we did behold the salmon sporting,
We spied some countrie clowns to us resorting,348 lines - This time our boat passing too nigh the land,
The whirling stream did make her run on sand;254 lines - Of Mr George Ruthven the tears and mournings,
Amidst the giddie course of fortune's turnings,389 lines - Yet bold attempt and dangerous, said I,
Upon these kinde of men such chance to try,460 lines - What could there more be done, let any say,
Nor I did to prevent the doleful day?26 lines - Up springs the sun, the day is cleer and fair,
Ętesię, sweetly breathing, cool the air;-102 lines - But this sad melancholick disquisition,
Did not befit our jovial disposition,322 lines - As we arrived at our Lady's Steps,
Incontinent all men reversed their caps,430 lines
