Legs I have got, yet seldom do I walk;
I backbite many, yet I never talk:
In secret places most I seek to hide me,
For he who feeds me never can abide me.

mosquito?
Ya it may be. -
From guest ea (contact)
it's some kind of insect - I think it's either a mosquito, black fly or horsefly because bedbugs and fleas walk. It's definitely clever. Enjoyed. -

This is amazing! What could it be? Shadow or conscience -
Personally I think it is rumour and gossip!

A Woman in anguish
It is a woman, who has been dumped by a man of her dreams .
"For he who feeds me never can abide me." .. A woman in this stage will marry a 'Guy' who loves her more than anything else. Coz, she feel's secure with him. But after marriage, he will find out that he married her for the wrong reason. And starting looking for a way out.
Even though her current relationship is falling apart, it doesn't hurt her.
It's so amazing that in four lines, 'AA' has captured the essence of a broken relationship. -
no...I'm really stuck here...I really can figure out what it is.

a skeleton in the closet

those are all very logical ideas. but i find when your looking at a riddle the most sensible thing is rarely the answer... at first i thought it was glasses because of the leg thing...but the rest of it wouldn't make sense.. but now i think it might be the media/a gossip ?? but the flea/ mosquito thing does make the most sense

great riddle. is it a flea? no they use their legs a lot. maybe a mosquito? oh well, great riddle.
-
Me like. Yup yup. *smiles* *hugs*

I'm from Minnesota so I'm definately saying it's a mosquito. That is our state bird...LMAO.

Great
I am thinking myself it might be a mosquito or something like that. Well I am not good with riddles either. Will you be giving the answer? -
Hmmm... I have no idea... but I know someone who might... I'll have to ask around.
-
its too vague... there are many things with legs that fly crawl jump swing and move by means of a host... and when you say talk i assume you mean don't make sounds... and most things have a way of communicating... words well, people only use those... and the last line is almost identical to the backbiting line... that must mean its a carnivor...
it sounds like a spider for they do not really walk... they usually hide... they are kind of loaners so talking has no use to them... and when some bite you you die so that makes it rather hard to abide them...
i could be wrong... -
hey this is a cool riddle, can't solve it yet, unique on here!
-
I think it's a flea too-everybody feeds the flea, but nobody wants to, fleas also do bite, but then they walk almost as much as they fly, don't they?...hmmm I'm not that good at riddles and this is going to puzzle me

good one

personally, I'd favour a flea over a mosquito, but seeing the nature of riddles, I doubt that it is that transparent, they rarely are. the grammar is awful, but thats not the point is it? lol will think on it. Someone somewhere may have either seen it before or be bright enough to see straight awat what this is, I prefer to make up my own riddles, it's good exercise and it's amazing how something so transparent to yourself should be so veiled to other people. Try making one up and see!

Hmm sounds like some sort of biting creature... a mosquito? A horse fly?.. Argh, I hope someone solves this one!
-
hmmm...... I thought and thought about this but I still didnt even have an idea of what it could be after the 5th time I read it through!

I am stumped. I will have think on this, see if I can solve it. I love puzzles, riddles. And I agree...nice to see some of this on oldpoetry.
-
Makes me wish I could solve the riddle, but I've never been very good at that kind of thing. I'll have to think on it, fun to see even the old poets took the time to write a riddle or two
