Romeo and Juliet

If you will die for me,
I will die for you
and our graves will be like two lovers washing
their clothes together
in a laundromat
If you will bring the soap
I will bring the bleach.

What saves this poem from being shlock is the allusion to washing cloths. Love is something for the living. The living need to do laundry. Love is about doing someone's laundry. death has nothing to do with any of it. I am afraid Richard got confused on this point in the end.

This is just too great. Way too great. I love the way Brautigan describes things! Who else could come up with this kind of description? The things in his head... I want to see inside his head! Or maybe I don't. I think I'd be more content just to read the margins of his papers.

Another great one by the great Brautigan himself. If I only could write something that could make others feel the way Brautigan does. He's truly an original.
