8 Count

from my bed
I watch
3 birds
on a telephone
wire.
one flies
off.
then
another.
one is left,
then
it too
is gone.
my typewriter is
tombstone
still.
and I am
reduced to bird
watching.
just thought I'd
let you
know,
fucker.

This is hilarious, and really beautiful if you stop for a look. His words always mean more than the dictionary would tell you.

    bukowski is overrated.

It would be nice to know why you think this rather than just to see negativity.

Interesting write. I guess that is the comment I so often use when I'm not sure what to say. Liked reading it. Mostly. Wasn't crazy about the last word, but hey-that is how he writes. I'll take it.

It always amaze me how he's able to capture simple things like that then combine it with humor and wit.

When I can't write about anything... my poems end up sucking. Bukowski can be in the same situation... and write an awesome poem about not being able to write a poem. * sigh * that's talent.

I used to have this poem in my profile. I don't know why I took it out.

Oh this is too funny. I just can't stop laughing. He sounds bored as all to be, well darned and then seems to smack you in the face with an attitude of, how dare you ask me what I'm doing, now you know and how did that make you feel..... rotflmfao

Hahahahahaha! This man is the bomb! He pulls the reader in then blasts him with an unexpected ending. I have read three poems by him and this is the third time that has happened. GREAT! Hahahaha What a refreshing break away from the norm!

I really enjoy that he expresses his embitterment so eloquently by calling the reader a fucker.

Whenever I read this guy, I discover a new gem. I really felt this one. I even remember typewriters...hahaha. I just love Bukowski's attitude and his tone. I think I could tell his work without his name attached. A truly distinctive voice. I have always appreciated his perspective. His poetry and his novels are always worth reading, always rntertaining, and often surprising. I am glad to see his work posted here.
