I don't dislike him, I just think oddness for the sake of oddness when it serves no purpose is tiresome. I like some of his work but I don't think that weirdness = talent.

I first came here to look up this author because of a poemt that was submitted to a contest. It really piqued my curiosity. And then I saw this and didn't move any further. What attracted me was the title. I had written a poem using the number 2 also. Kind of a play on words. The first stanza, 2 children under a tree...second,talking about their dreams, fantasies? third, the wonderment of youthful dreams....fourth,two young chidren sitting under a tree, no words, just being.(something most adults have a hard time doing, they feel the need to fill the air with conversation)
just my take, it's what i see. I absolutely love this poem. such wonderful imagery here. Michelle -
I seem to think its about love
They have there arms around each other, he and she
In different realms, definately about love

I have no comment for this one either. I have read it a few times but I have no clue what e.e. cummings may have been thinking at the time he wrote this. He is such a unique talent.

I vote for just weird on this one. I am not going to even attempt to understand what this is about. I've never been a big fan of Cummings, but most of the time I respect him for what he tried to do, that he just put all of his writing out there. However, this really made no sense to me, even after I read it several times.

Very interesting twist of words, clever? Or just weird?
Not for me to judge, whether you like Cummings or not, you have to respect his unique style. (Although, if Cummings hadn't been born, and I sent this to a publisher, what would the reply be?)
