Butterfly Laughter

In the middle of our porridge plates
There was a blue butterfly painted
And each morning we tried who should reach the
          butterfly first.
Then the Grandmother said:  "Do not eat the poor
          butterfly."
That made us laugh.
Always she said it and always it started us laughing.
It seemed such a sweet little joke.
I was certain that one fine morning
The butterfly would fly out of our plates,
Laughing the teeniest laugh in the world,
And perch on the Grandmother's lap.

    Great

Such a wonderful memory and such a beautiful thought, this is for you Dear kathetrine mansfield
    "Butterfly! Butterfly stay near me,
    Your texture is so beautiful
That I just want to be
A colorful creature just like you
A Rose or a white Lilly."
Katherine was a great short story writer too. "Psychology" is one of her very beautiful stories. She is also a butterfly with so many beautiful colors...the colors of life.

Great to see our famous writer featured here.
This poem also brings back memories of my younger sister's plate that had a picture of a clown pulling along a toy duck on wheels. It even had a poem to go with it -
    "Here comes Monty Duck
    And his funny master
    With a quack, quack, quack,
    He comes waddling after."

I'm surprised that I can still remember this after more than 50 yrs

very lovely image here. This reminded me of something my cousins and I used to do, but it wasn't butterflies. Usually roosters or some cartoon character.

We used to have Garfield cups...I always wondered why he didn't drown.

such are the thoughts of a child

    LOL

    8/10

The first part of this I know about, because me and my cousins used to do the same thing, but, our minds never ventured as far as the rest of this piece, which I think is a bit cute.

    A lovely piece here.
