the sound of the bell
    as it leaves the bell.

    Cool

This is a very soft Haiku. The beauty of the expression is the start...Coolness...as the sound of the bell is fainting. Basho has said...
    Even these long days
    are not nearly long enough
    for the skylarks to sing

WOW!! Amazing! What drew me in to reading this haiku was the title. It gave me a feeling of immense peace like from a land far far away. I felt awesome on seeing the title. Wonderful juxtaposition and excellent break. Wonderful sense of zen here. Beautiful use of the sense of touch and sound. Perhaps "coolness" refers to how relaxing this felt to listen to in peak summer heat? Perhaps this haiku refers to a season change of some sort?

Maybe their was a crispness of the echoing tones of the bell? Maybe the bell was cold and the sound hollow = coldness.

Sound does travel...like light. Exellent observation here. Why "coolness," though?

I had to think about this one for a while, I then realised no sound can be heard from the bell until it does physically leave by striking.
    Forgive me it's late
