I wish I could take a quiet corner in the heart of my baby's very
own world.
I know it has stars that talk to him, and a sky that stoops
down to his face to amuse him with its silly clouds and rainbows.
Those who make believe to be dumb, and look as if they never
could move, come creeping to his window with their stories and with
trays crowded with bright toys.
I wish I could travel by the road that crosses baby's mind,
and out beyond all bounds;
Where messengers run errands for no cause between the kingdoms
of kings of no history;
Where Reason makes kites of her laws and flies them, the Truth
sets Fact free from its fetters.

A beautifully written poem, Tagore delves into the very heart of the imagination as his mind meanders into the bliss of being a baby, free from the confines of being older and shaped. A pleasure to read and ponder Baby's World.

I'd prefer to take a quiet corner in Tagore's own world. I have a feeling that was a wonderful, creative place...as this poem indicates.
I do like the poem, we all hear that trite line, "think outside the box" and that's what this poem gives tribute to, that unfettered state before boundaries are set.

How easily he seems to create a wold free from worry - a wold of joy and pleasure in being a baby - enjoyed these words and the way he looks at life. If only...

Tremendously insightful
"I wish I could travel by the road that crosses baby's mind; and out beyond all bounds"...Tagore writes beautifully of the true innocence we are born with and the true freedom we often have lost in our adulthood. I am reminded of the old saying 'everything I ever NEEDED to know I learned in kindergarten'...Wistful...love this man's work. -
Agreed
He is amazing. I wish I could've personally met him. His reasoning is certainly far beyond most. He takes the simplist and creates a master-piece Picaso would be proud of. -
wow, I love this guy. How can he take something so simple as a baby and nature, and turn it into a reson for law and truth?
