Put out my eyes, and I can see you still,
Slam my ears to, and I can hear you yet;
And without any feet can go to you;
And tongueless, I can conjure you at will.
Break off my arms, I shall take hold of you
And grasp you with my heart as with a hand;
Arrest my heart, my brain will beat as true;
And if you set this brain of mine afire,
Then on my blood-stream I yet will carry you.

the very human need to feel greater than - to go beyond our physical limitations into the limitless.

Actually, to say that this poem talks of "love" in the emotional sense is to greatly reduce it's value. What it points to is a structual neccesity of man for the fulfillment of his most deepest desires. His desire for truth, and thus for God. And yet the human person alone cannot find the answer to this question so, despite all worldly factors, we carry this wound along with us, conjuring it at will. -

This is a masterpiece. This is what is called LOVE. When one loves someone so intensely that even his or her physical shortcomings or limitations can’t keep him/her away from his/her love then one can really feel and amazed with the magnificence and metaphysical pleasure of it. This is one of the best love poems I have ever read.
