Book Borrower

I am a mild man, you'll agree,
        But red my rage is,
When folks who borrow books from me
        Turn down their pages.

Or when a chap a book I lend,
        And find he's loaned it
Without permission to a friend -
        As if he owned it.

But worst of all I hate those crooks
        (May hell-fires burn them!)
Who beg the loan of cherished books
        And don't return them.

My books are tendrils of myself
        No shears can sever . . .
May he who rapes one from its shelf
        Be damned forever.

Instead of all these sad book lending experience I must say you all are lucky as you were in a position to lend a book to someone. You were a book keeper.

    Service on books

I never borrow a book I intend to return. I am a book thief.

must i be reminded of the pitiful mistake i made of lending a gabo right from under my hands to a friend; and to never see it's backside again! (had to repurchase it!) i have learnt my lesson

Oh How I relate to this I'm still waiting on 2 of my books to be returned to me after a very l-o-n-g time and I find myself becoming quite stressed before asking (for the umpteenth time) for their return. Mr Service was reading many minds as he wrote this.
