I Desire (With English Translation)


tere ishq kii intahaa chaahataa huu.N
merii saadagii dekh kyaa chaahataa huu.N


sitam ho ki ho vaadaa-e-behijaabii
ko_ii baat sabr-aazamaa chaahataa huu.N


ye jannat mubaarak rahe zaahido.n ko
ki mai.n aap kaa saamanaa chaahataa huu.N


ko_ii dam kaa mehamaa.N huu.N ai ahal-e-mahafil
chiraaG-e-sahar huu.N, bujhaa chaahataa huu.N


bharii bazm me.n raaz kii baat kah dii
ba.Daa be-adab huu.N, sazaa chaahataa huu.N

English Translation.

I want to have the extremes of your Love,
See, how silly am I, wishing for unachievable.

I don’t care if you maltreat me or promise to unveil your beauty,
I just want something unbearable to test my fortitude

Let the God fearing people be dwelling in the paradise,
For, instead I want to be face to face with you.
( I don’t want to go to paradise but want to observe the Divine Beauty)

O fellows, I am here for a few moments, as a gust,
Like morning star I will fade and vanish in a few moments.

I disclosed the secret in public,
I need to be punished for being so rude.

The first verse of this Ghazal was Dr.Iqbal's favorite verse 'tere ishq kii intahaa chaahataa huu.N

Your promise to unveil is a punishment, (Its something) that (i want to) tests(test) my patience, This Heaven, is wanted by the GOD_Fearing, What i want, is to see your face.     i am saad i am going to discuss about iqbal iqbal was very graet poet i like him very much i use to read his poetry iqbal was very educated and very positive thinking person he wrote poetry for hindustanies muslims and all the muslims who lived in the world iqbal wrote very nice poems poetry whatever especially SHIKWA JAWABE SHIKWA iqbal had very good thoughts about muslims iqbal wanted that muslim live as a free nation that was iqbal dream iqbal was very good poet person so thast is why we should read his poetry and understand his poetry it is necessory for all muslims

    very nice poem

    Dr. Iqbal was a great thinker and a very nice poet. in this poem the poet is expressing his very simple yet deep thoughts about love and life and after revealing all these wonderful thoughts he says in the end...

    Iqbal's all poetry is very nice. i have all books of Urdu poetry but here i find English translation which is think very very nice work done by the web master. through it Iqbal's message will be spread to all of the world.
