Behold her, single in the field,
Yon solitary Highland Lass!
Reaping and singing by herself;
Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound.
No Nightingale did ever chaunt
More welcome notes to weary bands
Of travellers in some shady haunt,
Among Arabian sands:
A voice so thrilling ne'er was heard
In spring-time from the Cuckoo-bird,
Breaking the silence of the seas
Among the farthest Hebrides.
Will no one tell me what she sings?—
Perhaps the plaintive numbers flow
For old, unhappy, far-off things,
And battles long ago:
Or is it some more humble lay,
Familiar matter of to-day?
Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain,
That has been, and may be again?
Whate'er the theme, the Maiden sang
As if her song could have no ending;
I saw her singing at her work,
And o'er the sickle bending;—
I listened, motionless and still;
And, as I mounted up the hill,
The music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more.

THIS POEM BY WORDSWORTH DEPICTS THE TRUE PICTURE OF WONDERFUL OBJECTS OF NATURE,WHERE THE POET TAKES REFUGE. -

This poem is about a lonely girl who is introvert by nature. The poet was once passing through a beautiful valley in the foot of hills. There, he saw a lonely girl bending over her sickle and reaping the harvest. While working, she was also singing a sad song. Although the poet could not understand the theme of the song, he guessed that perhaps her song was about the ordinary sorrows of daily life. The poet stood there for some time and listened to the song. Then he carried the music in his heart.
I think, in this poem the poet wants to say that the innocence and beauty, which can be found in the villages, is pure and extraordinary. The people, even a small girl, can feel the deep effects of sorrow and can sing in a very melodious tune. Her song is also full of gloom. The song may be about some natural sorrow loss or pain, which has happened in the past or is likely to happen in the future.
William Wordsworth is a poet of nature. I like this poem very much because of the simplicity of the theme and the beauty of the poetic diction.

That’s the class of. Wordsworth. He can very easily grasp the beauty of nature and the nature of beauty everywhere...many a great legends are still there in the villages and fields. Still unknown. Still not rewarded..The art, the music, the beauty randomly distributed. That’s why the naught boy, John Keats ran away to Scotland ...the people far to see...it’s a classic... Ahkam -

''THE SOLITARY REAPER''like other smaller lyric poems of WordsWorth illustrates the poets profound love for nature and his belief that no earthly beauty can come up to the heavenly beauty that we find in natural objects and persons brought up in the midst of natural surroundings.The simple style of the poem admirably keeps pace with the simplicity of the theme,while the musical strain of the lines fully reproduced the sweetness of the songs by the highland girl which truly reflects the celtic spirit of romance.This poem is one of the most romantic poems of WordsWorth.The songs of the girl like all songs of celtic race it was full of soft melancholy.the celts take a luxury in grief and to dwell on the disaster that has followed their course in history.At the end of the poem the recollection of this happy giving permanent possession,retrieable like computer memory.
''THE MUSIC IN MY HEART I BORE
LONG AFTER IT WAS HEARD NO MORE.''

The solitary reaper like other smaller lyric poems of wordsworth illustrates the poets profound love for nature and his conviction that no earthly beauty can come up with the heavenly beauty that we find in natural objects and persons reared upin the midst of natural surroundings.The simple style of the poem admirably keeps pace with the simplicity of the theme,while the musical strain of the lines fully reproduced the sweetness of the songs by the highland lass which truly reflects the celtic spirit of romance.In this poem he refers to his favourite bird cuckoo.Their are frequent references to cuckoo in his poetry.in his beautifull lyric ''to the cuckoo''he greats the bird with this line ''THRICE WELCOME DARLING OF THE SPRING''Cuckoo voice is described as ''thrilling'' here because it announces to the dwellers in the strong -swept hebrides the return of spring and the approach of calmer whether.The last two lines are reffering to permanent giving pleasure for him'' The music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more. ''The farmer as he tells us here,bears a way with the latter,as he has told us in his poem ''the daffodils''''THE FALSH UPON THAT INWARD EYE.WHICH IS THE BLISS OF SOLITUDE.AND THEN MY HEART WITH PLEASURE FILLS AND DANCES WITH THE DAFFODILS.''Wordsworth theory of emotions recollected in trancuality is superbly applicable to this poem specially last two lines of this poem. -
