NEVER give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Certain, and they never dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
For everything that's lovely is
But a brief, dreamy. Kind delight.
O never give the heart outright,
For they, for all smooth lips can say,
Have given their hearts up to the play.
And who could play it well enough
If deaf and dumb and blind with love?
He that made this knows all the cost,
For he gave all his heart and lost.

It is absolutely true. One of the most profound things written. Not bitter just observant. -
It certainly isn't true that all, or even most, women get bored with suitors whose devotion they are certain of and fall for those who keep them on a string. However, some people of both sexes do do this, and you can make allowances for someone whose heart has been broken.

Yes, never give all teh heart
From guest Ibrahim Abed Rabu (contact)
What if the lover leaves his beloved? If she/ he has given all the heart then her/his heart will be completely broken. A person should keep something for emergency situation. You should be able to survive after the lover leaves you and not be in the dark corner and difficult situation -
I'm a woman and I don't get this.

What A Contrast
The first tow lines are like a big puzzle, Hardly seems worth thinking of ?..its something that is not controllable. Passionate women love any lover, every lover, all? is an other mystery that even the female class don’t know exactly, or they don’t disclose the secret. the last two lines have a real calm mood, if one knows the cost then this is a willful act and the consequences of the deal are of no importance at all. -
Wow, what a sad poem, his heart he gave to his true love and she went and married another, this is a truly sad poem, you can feel his heartache in this, but they do say love is blind...........
sanity.
