Alabaster

Like this alabaster box whose art
Is frail as a cassia-flower, is my heart,
Carven with delicate dreams and wrought
With many a subtle and exquisite thought.

Therein I treasure the spice and scent
Of rich and passionate memories blent
Like odours of cinnamon, sandal and clove,
Of song and sorrow and life and love.

wow. the simplicity of this is beautiful. I'm always jealous of people who can say so much with so few words.

This is very pleasant. It wraps the metaphorical with the material very nicely. The scheme was very well done and the metre was very even.

With each new poem I read by this author, I find myself enjoying the posts more and more. The writes seem to have such a precise and purposeful flow...yet still manage to capture elusive thoughts and feelings in such a broad manner.

This piece is simply lovely to me.
