The Night Has A Thousand Eyes

The night has a thousand eyes,
    And the day but one;
Yet the light of the bright world dies
    With the dying sun.

The mind has a thousand eyes,
    And the heart but one:
Yet the light of a whole life dies
    When love is done.

    the last line may be "when its day is done" someone should check the original material.

    My Analysis

    From guest Kara (contact)
    The poem “The Night Has a Thousand Eyes”, the Night is personified into a person as well as the Daylight. The Night is said to have “A thousand eyes” like God(s) are said to be omnipresent. While the Daylight has one, “The light of the bright world dies with the dying sun”, a symbolic representation of Light vs. Darkness occurs while light represents hope, renewal or intellectual illumination. Darkness implies the unknown, ignorance, or despair. The light dying could represent the loss of intelligence or the lost of something that is pure. In the second stanza, the Night is no longer addressed but the human mind is spoken of and the heart is now personified. The lines “The mind has a thousand eyes, and the heart but one”. This represents how you could be thinking about many different things all at once while your heart has only your true love in its “thoughts”. The last two lines of the second stanza have the Daylights death but the life of an individual dies when their love is finished. The heart represents love and emotions, so when your love is lost then so will your emotions vanish. Ever heard of dying from a broken heart?

    LOVE...tough stuff to figure out!

    From guest Ryan (contact)
    Amazing poem about love and what life is like when its gone. "the light of a whole life dies When the love is gone." Your heart only truly sees that one person, and when that love is gone, it does feel like your whole life dies! There is one thing I don't get when it comes to love though. How can someone tell you they love you for 2 years of your life, and then somehow change their mind or feel differently in a weeks time!?!

    Don't get it.

    From guest Arli (contact)
    The night has a thousand eyes... we are more curious in the night And the day but one... but during the day, we go on with our lives, succumbing to peer pressure. Yet the light of the world dies with the dying sun.. But when the day is over, it is when we are more confused. The mind has a thousand eyes... the mind is curious, asking questions always And the heart but one... but the heart goes on with what it feels Yet the light of a whole life dies when love is done... But if you have no love, you cannot question. Summary? When we are more curious, we grow more confused. Therefore...I'm confused. I still don't get it. Help!
