Hurt no living thing:
Ladybird, nor butterfly,
Nor moth with dusty wing,
Nor cricket chirping cheerily,
Nor grasshopper so light of leap,
Nor dancing gnat, nor beetle fat,
Nor harmless worms that creep.

Second verse
From guest Dave Williams (contact)
My Dad loved animals. I'm going to read this poem at his funeral because it's brilliant. I hope it's not sacrilege, but I've written a second verse: Hurt no living thing Elephant nor crocodile Nor monkeys as they swing Nor antelope so clear of eye Nor running rat nor hanging bat Nor all the birds that fly. -
From guest Mrs Julie Diane Bell (contact)
This poem is short but effective in that it is a beautiful poem to teach children about respect for living creatures at a very young age. -
