Jenny Kiss'd Me

Jenny kiss'd me when we met,
  Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
  Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
  Say that health and wealth have miss'd me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
    Jenny kiss'd me.

    so intimate and in the time of that, it's quite sassy!*giggle* I mean, who says, "I can suffer greatly, but as it goes, something's left ... someone's KISSED me". How definitely concise and impressed he must've been. Loved it!

    This made me giggle. I have no idea why, but it puts images in my head of a pony tailed teen, popping gum, hand on hip, lips pouting and a defiant air about her. I know... time for a cup of tea!

    This poem has all the makings of a pop tune. Just add another stanza with modern references and you're there...
