A Poem About Miracles

Why don't the records go blank
the instant the singer dies?
Oh, I know there are explanations
but they don't convince me
I'm still surprised
When I hear the dead singing
As for orchestra's
I expect the Instruments
To fall silent one by one
as the musicians succumb
to cancer and heart disease
so that toward the end
I turn on a disc
labelled Gotterdammerung
and all that comes out
is the sound of one sick old man
scraping a shaky bow
across an out-of-tune fiddle.

A Poem About Miracles The words actually sound like a song Some syllables would have to be held longer or shorter to make it work, but I think he was thinking music when he wrote this poem so music came out!

I remember when this same experience happened to me; I saw someone on an old movie who had passed away. I can still recall the surreal feeling as a child wonder how they could still exist on television.

Unusual twist! Great wit...and just to extend it--how about when artists die? Imagine going to a musuem, and the Masters' canvases turn to white? Lines 16-18 had me laughing out loud.
