Was I lost

Was I lost in thoughts of love
When I closed my eyes? He
Appeared, and
Had I known it for a dream
I would not have awakened.

    Beautiful!!

    From guest Tiffany (contact)
The poem is beautiful... Everyone sees their mysterious figure in their dreams and wish him/her real. Sadly it it only a dream and we must face reality sooner or later...

I have no claim on being a translator nor can I read the poem in its original language, but I do feel the translator may have lost the balance of the form in this piece and it would have been better structured as...

was I lost in thoughts of love
    when I closed my eyes
    he appeared
had I known it for a dream
    I would not have awakened

It is only a minor adjustment, but it gives it a shift in time and perspective (internal and external / real and fantasy) which pivots around the image, the man of her desire.

I like this piece, even though it is a very simple contrast of images and feelings, it has the power to touch the reader very effectively.

I thought that this was just full of beautiful imagery. Dreams can indeed seem so real at the time, that one might wish never to awaken but remain in that 'world' forever.
