On the sea at Omi

On the sea at Ômi,
Plovers fly the waves at dusk
And with their cries
My mind is turned
To thoughts of long ago.

It's always interesting how a sound or an image will remind us of a half-forgotten memory. It does seem to be the cries that reminds the speaker--melancholy memories I assume.

Sights and sounds do evoke memories, infusing them with new life for just a fleeting moment enabling them to be re-lived. Beautifully written.

    Another short but sweet offering.
These few words capture the power of some sounds to bring back floods of memory from long ago.
