Beautiful and rich is an old friendship,
Grateful to the touch as ancient ivory,
Smooth as aged wine, or sheen of tapestry
Where light has lingered, intimate and long.
Full of tears and warm is an old friendship
That asks no longer deeds of gallantry,
Or any deed at all - save that the friend shall be
Alive and breathing somewhere, like a song.

I LOVED UR POEM ITS AWESOME
-
alive and breathing somewhere like a song. what a selfless wish thie poem is filled with beauty and nuances one can appreciate as they read again and again.
I especially like the line
Where light has lingered, intimate and long.
it shows a deep close relationship between the tapestry and the light it is in a way sensual as in appealing to the senses. like the old wine and the touch of ancient tapestry. Even though the subject is Old friendship the poem uses rich similies that please the senses. The similes used make it even more special than if it just spoke of an old friendship which in itself is a very special subject. The description of old friendship is also true and beautiful in its pure selflessness. A rewarding read. -
I have to agree with sadlemann on this one. It doesnt really sound like its complete. It seems fragmented. Its a good write altoghether and I got your feeling but it needs some real work to be a complete piece.

Very interesting piece. Trouble I have always had, though, with syntax reversed. Reaching it seems like the poet is doing. Get it I don't, for easy it seems - like Yoda it sounds to me...

I could refer this poem to a few people in my life, those souls who have touched and stayed and are still around after so many years - there for me when they know I need them.
Old Friendships, needs no explanations
This poem is timeless
