He made no promise, yet
Wondering if he'll come, I wait,
In the early evening;
If only it would stay this way,
Remaining light…

I like this poem because it's short yet carries so much meaning, will 'he' come or not- who is 'he' anyway?- does the 'light' refer to the evening or the positivity etc, you could ask endless questions about this very short poem. I enjoyed this a lot, here he has written an interesting poem.

Cool, this is a really good poem. It so short you think there's nothing really to it but when you read it again it just seems to come alive. Excellent job.

Thanks for recommending this poem; I hadn't heard it before and enjoyed it immensely. On a first read-through it seems so simple, but it almost demands a few re-reads. I find myself wanting to know what happened after this poem, hoping that 'he' comes.

The loneliness of the night can be hard when the desired company doesn't arrive. This is a strong piece, full of longing and hope.
The shimo no ku, is interesting in this piece, do the lines:-
If only it would stay this way,
Remaining light...
refer to the coming night, or the intensity of the relationship? May be the Japanese original could shed some light, but still as great piece to contemplate.
