I don't feel that this has an incestuous meaning at all. Guest was born late 19th century - this generation of children were totally dependant on parents (in particular Mothers) for their formative development, a strong bond being built between Mothers and child.
How many little boys have often said that their Mom was the prettiest in the world - this is how this is written through the eyes of a young boy (A Boys Tribute)to the one woman he could trust without doubt.
A worthy tribute that any loving Mother would cherish.

I think its just admiration, but who knows -
I don't agree with Ladie Lee. It doesn't really strike me as incestuous. But it does capture the pure admiration almost any child has towards their mother.
