God says to me with a kind of smile,
"Hey how would you like to be God awhile
And steer the world?"
"Okay," says I, "I'll give it a try.
Where do I set?
How much do I get?
What time is lunch?
When can I quit?"
"Gimme back that wheel," says God.
"I don't think you're quite ready yet."

First poem I have read by this poet - how simpley stated, so easy to read and understand what is being said - liked the brevity of the lines in this dialogue with God - need to read more of this man. Makes one laugh and realize how wise this man was... -

I'm a sucker for good children's poetry. I think he did a fine job at relating to the imaginations of children. It's a shame that he only has three books of children's poetry... -
I think this poem is awsome!

I love this! It reminds me of a little cartoon I saw. It was a drawing of a city, all the traffic jams, and chaos in general. The title was, "God buys a billboard" In the midst of everything, a huge billboard stands that says, "QUIT IT!"
