The bird trapped in the cage, the one who has it trapped thinks it's safe, yet when it 'escapes' or gets away, they feel it's in danger and didn't mean to wisp away -- tell that to the canary.
A nice piece that Shiki has written here.

Good to see poems that don't have to be loaded with adjectives just to get one view or point across. Simple ones like this are great.
